civ 3 conquest install error

Hi,

I had my laptop rebuilt after it crashed. I'm reinstalling my games and I get and error installing civ 3 conquests.

Component Transfer error
Componenet directx installer
file group: directx installer
file d:\directx\mdxredist.msi
error: data error




I tried just download direct x from the civ 3 conquest disk, same error. I downloaded and installed and reinstalled directx from msft. My disk is in pretty bad shape. Do i just need a new disk or something else?

This game worked just fine for years in the past!

Probably all you need is an new CD. If it's in pretty bad shape, that can cause errors when trying to reinstall.

WalMart has disc-repair kits. So do a lot of gaming/electronic stores. You might try one of those. I haven't used one in years, but when I did use them they worked fine. This was, however, a long time ago.

it is fixed. I went and got a new one.
