Civ 3 discord group

I can seem to find any.

Does anyone know of any? If not I can make one if there is enough interest.

 

Well, there are a couple private ones, but nothing of real significance in consistent playing and activity.

 

I do not even know the purpose or meaning of a discord group.

And any manual or automatic translation attempts do not make sense either ("Mißklang Gruppe" = "Bad noise group"? ).

I had to Google it myself, as you are correct that the literal translation does not make sense.

 

It doesnt make sense, however, it has become very popular in a short time. It was primarily made for gamers to replace Skype and Teamspeak, but even normal website communities are using it as a chatroom. It has been shown in TV shows like Bull.

I've been using it regularly myself since 2016. CivPlayers for civ6 also uses it.
