The title is the best possible way to explain this in one line - sorry if it doesn't make much sense ;-)
So my problem is an odd one, and I haven't seen its like anywhere else, despite a LOT of searching online. I just purchased a new laptop (HP DV6-2190us) with Win 7 on it. Everything seemed to work fine, adjusted the system to my liking, installed programs, etc....
Then, I went to go online. While I could connect to most sites without a problem, some (Civfanatics & Adobe.com the most prolific) would no longer load at all, giving me a "Unable to connect, check your firewall, etc." message every time. After hours of trial and error, I finally uninstalled Civ4, and went online - both pages loaded perfectly fine. Reinstalled Civ4 - couldn't load either page.
So apparently, this has something to do with the Civ install. I've tried installing it without Xfire or Comrade, tried removing it from the firewall exceptions list, etc. - and I still can't connect to those pages while it's installed (And let's face it, being able to access civfanatics without being able to play is just torture, lol).
So...anyone have any thoughts? I'm completely lost at this point. :-(
