Civ. 4 complete on DVD won't run - needs correct CD loaded!

Hi, I have bought and loaded up Civ. 4 complete from the DVD.
On trying to play the game I get a message telling me to 'load the correct CD into the CD Rom drive'
I only have a DVD, and its in the DVD drive it loaded from.

Can anyone help please.

is this the european or the US version of complete? what operating system is this?

Apologies, first post and not sure what info to include.

It's a european version. I'm running XP SP2, 512M NVIDIA card, I have separate CD ROM and DVD drives on the machine.

It's frustrating that everything loads up from the DVD drive, but then the game does not seem to recognise the DVD drive when trying to run

did you patch the game to 3.19?
that would at least remove the disc check for Beyond the Sword.
the problem is probably due to the two cd drives with the dvd drive not interacting properly with the disc checking software.
are you using this on an administrator account?

From other threads I've read I gather the Civ 4 Complete DVD is bang up to date as a 3.19 version.

I can get the game to load and run on my laptop which only has one cd/DVD drive. However getting my wife off the laptop so I can play is another matter.

If there are any fixes for this problem on my desktop (which has separate CD and DVD drives) I would appreciate any help (and thank you for the consideration so far).

Complete is not updated to 3.19 you need to install that manually...
