Civ 4 Unistalltion problem

what is the problem with the uninstall?

I also get that error! I have tried everything, and it still does not work! It is so aggrevating.

what exactly did you try and is this just civ4 or also an expansion and what operating system?

i tried to do eveything said above, civ 4 regular, and microsoft XP

are you familiar with registry editing?
are you trying to remove the game completely or just to reinstall it?

um, no and then i am trying to reinstall it.

I am sure you did remove the installshield installation information directory I posted above - did you restart the computer since then? if no do so and try to reinstall.
If not it will get a bit trickier but there are ways

in windows xp:
set a system restore point (it is in system utilities)
then
click start
click run
type regedit
hit enter

then:

IF deleting the installshield information files does not help
edit the registry manually:
search and delete these keys:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall\{CFBCE791-2D53-4FCE-B3FB-D6E01F4112E8} -> Civ4
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall\{3E4B349F-10B5-4586-9D99-489A90A8B228} -> Warlords
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall\{32E4F0D2-C135-475E-A841-1D59A0D22989} -> BtS

Note: use regedit with caution - and do set a system restore point before doing so. While this is the *right* way of getting rid of the game (I agree with Jeckel here) it is also dangerous

okay, so i'm sort of having a similar problem, but it's that the installation shut down in the middle & it doesnt even bring up an uninstall option anywhere in what's installed but it also won't let me reinstall...should i do the same thing?
if so, what is a registry? sorry i'm not so tech-savvy :-/

well, i don't really know i just want my civilization 4 to work.

i am mostly aiming to uninstall it. i went to add & remove and went to civilization but it comes up with error code -5004 : 0x80041f42
