Sure, I know Civ 3 just came out, but does anyone know any rumors about an upcoming civ game like Civ 4 or Civ 3 multiplayer or something?

Multiplayer is coming out with the new expansion pack coming soon. As far as CivIV, why would you need it?

Hopefully they'll put back in all the great features from AC and civ2.

Really? That's awesome! Where'd you get this info?

Check the Home page of CivFanatics. It shows an article about it from GameSpot PC.

:D GOOD one! I can't imagine why. . . Civ 3 is sooo perfect! :p

As for MP, XP, or whatever, they'd better be free if we are not getting a rebate for beta Civ 3.

I GOTTA get that game! EIGHT new Civs?!?! (wish they would tell what the civs are, though. )

Today games like Civ take a huge commitment of time and money to build. There's just so much programming complexity, art, etc. How long was CivIII in active development? A year and a half?

Rather than CivIV i'd expect to see multiple expansion packs in the next couple of years. The currently announced one with multi-player, later another one with advanced editors for building mods. It's all part of recouping their initial investment into building CivIII. Only when they've exhausted the potential of CivIII will you hear about plans for CivIV. And I'd bet that would be mininum 3+ years down the road.

As far as I remember, CivI came out in 1991, Civ2 in 1996 and civ 3 in 2001, so by my calculations, civ4 should be out in 2006;) Hopefully by then Firaxis has made enough money and put out an even better game with the latest tech available 5 years down the line.

Games are a lot easier to make nowadays than they were back in the DOS days, by far. They write for Directx, back in the old days hardware was handled the old fashioned way.

Yeah but that's not a huge part of the code. Likely 90% of the code is hardware independent game logic, AI and other such stuff. Civ ain't exactly a graphics intensive game is it.

Lissen everyone, go to the "Civ III expansion pack announced" thread started by Grey Fox. You'll find all the info to know about Civ III MP/XP there!;) :D ;) :D
