Civ 5 Design Challenge II - Mechanics

I'm having a really hard time thinking of a civ that fits this besides Spain. Portugal maybe?
Not Portugal, that's for sure. If you want a colonialist civ, then maybe a Great Britain? They probably had the largest amount of Natural Wonders :p

Also Natan, a big problem with your design is that new spain would start in the Americas, not Europe, so the "foreign continents" things wouldn't work as intended.

Gibraltar civ confirmed?
lol I forgot that Gibraltar was british, but I was talking about this:

Changed my design, replaced mission with Hacienda.

So I saw that Al Gore documentary the other day in English, so I decided to make an environmentalist America civ:

United States of America

Leader: Al Gore

UA: An Inconvenient Truth: Clean energy buildings have increased yields and/or different requirements and are built faster*. Workers can remove sources of coal, oil, and uranium from your territory, resulting in a lump of :c5culture: Culture and :tourism: Tourism.

UB: National Park: Replaces Garden. Requires a lake, mountain, or Natural Wonder. +1 :c5culture: Culture on unimproved tiles, increasing to +2 if it's a lake, mountain or Natural Wonder. Worked Natural Wonders have their highest yield transferred to :tourism: Tourism. Is more expensive and cost more maintenance.

UB: Ethanol Plant: Replaces Factory, does not require coal, and comes later at Combustion. Provides no base production, but yields +1 :c5production: Production from every farm and plantation. Provides 3 copies of the unique ethanol fuel resource which can be used as an alternative for oil.

*Windmill: +3 :c5production: Production, +15% :c5production: Production. 3 Windmills give an ideology.
Hydro Plant: +10% :c5production: Production. 1 Engineer slot.
Solar Plant: Does not require a desert.
Recycling Center: +3 :c5culture: Culture. An unlimited amount can be built.

It's a pretty weird civ but I had a lot of fun coming up with it. Late game production buildings are made more powerful and cheaper to give you an incentive to not improve those fossil fuels and uranium. The Ethanol Plant is especially helpful as it gives an alternative to oil. You can then erase those late game strategic resources from the map giving you large amounts of culture and tourism, and it also gives you more unimproved tiles for the UB. The UB increases the yields of lakes and mountains to represent the Great Lakes and the many mountain ranges in the US, in addition to making Natural Wonders yield instant amounts of Tourism.

True, England did conquer a lot of countries with natural wonders in them. Also Gibraltar civ, down with that.

Okay so this is late but I've got time on my hands so I'm just going to throw something in. I'll be making a Great Britain civ, based of the suggestions of tarcisiocm and ruled by George the Third. I chose Geroge the Third because he happened to rule the Great Britain when Captian Cook went of on his voyages. So it seems fitting.

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland

Under George the Third

UA: The Voyages of Cook
Receive double the happiness from discovering natural wonders. Cities working natural wonders get double the bonuses from the wonders than usual. After Navigation, all ships receive +1 movement and sight.

UU: Explorer
Unique great admiral replacement. Can do every thing a normal admiral can do, but when in friendly territory, can go on a voyage of discovery. This will consume the unit. The outcome can be one of two things, either discover some land in the fog of war on the map. Or bring back two sources of luxuries that aren't present on the map.

UU: Red Coat
Unique rifleman replacement, same as the normal rifleman, but receives drill I and shock I promotions and gains a +5% combat strength bonus when next to another red coat.

What you guys think? Made this on the fly, so it might not be the greatest.

The UU kinda clashes with ExCE, though it would synergize quite nicely with it.

How does it clash? By receiving two bonuses from discovering and working the same natural wonders? Also what does ExCE stand for? Noobish I know, but you won't learn anything if you don't ask.

Exploration continued Expanded.

It clashes because the explorer is a recon unit added by the mod.

Oh true. I've just called exploration continued expanded ece.

Hawaii
Leader: John A. Burns

UA: Tutu Pele
Mountains within your territory may become :c5razing: volcano tiles, which are unique natural wonders for Hawaii. Up to 5 mountains may become :c5razing: volcanoes in each city, and :c5razing: volcanoes may not be adjacent to each other. :c5razing: Volcanoes have a random combined total yield of six, made up from a mix of :c5culture: culture and :c5science: science*. +2 :tourism: tourism from all tiles that have a yeild of at least 1 :c5science: science.

UB: Mauna Observatory (Observatory)
Replaces the Observatory, but instead of requiring a mountain adjacent requires a :c5razing: volcano within the city's borders. +3 :c5science: science on all natural wonders worked by this city.

UU: Geologist (Archaeologist)
Ignores rough terrain costs in hills. May not excavate artifacts. Instead, the Geologist may construct Geological Digs on all mineable resources**. Geological digs yield +2 :c5culture: culture and :c5science: science, gaining an additional +1 :c5science: science with the discovery of atomic theory.

* All volcanoes yield at least 1 science and 5 culture or 5 science and 1 culture

** Resources are still connected to your trade network

Honestly, my vote goes to Uighur's American design, just because the whole concept of it seems pretty neat.

Niao's design looks really awesome as well, but I'm not sure it could be implemented without being horribly OP.

I'm voting for Niao's, its just pure awesome. I love high concept stuff and its super unique.
