Civ 5 on an AMD A10 laptop?
Has anyone tried Civ 5 on an AMD A-10 laptop with a Radeon 7660G? I'm trying to get some portability in my life, and I'd like to be able to run Civ 5 on it. I realize this is a pretty budget machine, but if it could run Civ 5 better than an i5 with an Intel HD graphics, I'd be happy. Any one have any experience with this?

I think it will run good on lowest settings. Are you currently shopping for a laptop, or do you already have it?

Thanks for the reply Can Not!
Currently shopping. I've pretty much settled on this unit as it appears to be the best choice based on my budget. I'd actually like t keep it under $500, but this appears to be the cheapest I can get that could possibly run anything you might call a game. The closest thing I think I can find to this is an Acer i5 with an Nvidia 660(?) for about $650. Not only do i not think to highly of Acer, it's more than I want to spend at the moment. If you know of anything better, I'd love to hear it!

The A-10 is a quad core processor. i3 and i5 processors are only available as dual cores on the mobile platforms. It's kinda one reason I went with the A10 over an i3.

You'll have no problem running on low(might even be able to pull off medium). I have a friend who uses a Core 2 Quad with an Intel GPU a generation or two older than the HD cards(and the AMD cards are generally better than the HD3000) and is happy with how the game runs on low.

For what it's worth, a desktop Radeon 5770 will max out the game at about 25-30FPS, the laptop equivalent of this card is the mobile 5870. Try and see if you can find some reviews that mention that card and you should have a good idea on where the different laptops stand. I'm not sure on the game's CPU requirements, but I'd think the AMD chip and Intel i series would both be good picks for a budget gaming laptop. :)

I've got an Intel I3 with HD4000(which is actually pretty decent, as far as Intel graphics go, you can actually do some gaming with it) and Civ 5 runs fine on it with the lowest settings.
