Does anyone know if Civ 5 on the Mac (when it is released) will be able to play against Civ 5 on the PC?

I have a Mac Book Pro (i7 with 8 GB RAM) and I was wondering how well Civ 5 would run in a virtual environment. I use VMWare Fusion. Anyone else doing this? How well does it play?

Lastly .. I know this is a bit off topic but just in case anyone might know the answer I will ask. If I purchase Civ 5 for the PC via Steam, does this mean I would get a free copy of the Mac version of Civ 5 when it is released? They do this with some games like Team Fortress.

Thanks!

Since there is still no official information about Civ V for Mac (AFAIK), there may not be anyone who can answer these questions. You would expect the Mac version to be able to play against PC users, it would be very poor if that wasn't the case. You would also expect Civ V to utilise Steam Play (Civ IV does), but there is no guarantee at this stage.

I ran it through Wine a few times, but then switched to Boot Camp. Even under Boot Camp, though, the game is so buggy that I'm giving up on it until the Mac port comes along--and given Aspyr's track record, I'm likely not to be any happier with the conversion.
