Civ 5 resources & finding stuff on the map

Have the designers of each new Civ game not played past games?!?

In Civ 4 you could pick specific resources to show up on the map so you could easily find say Coal or Iron, you could turn them all on to find all resources or just single resources.
I think you could even type in what you were looking for.

Why in this one is it only On/Off and nothing else? If I want to find Coal now.. well I have to search all over, and you can't even zoom out to view the whole world at once like you could in v4.

I swear I think they (Civs) get worse over time.

And why is there no easy way (like to find) barbarian encampments? There should be an Alt-B or something to show them on the map. As well as Antiquity sites. I mean I should not have to go through the map with a microscope to find these things!

Turn on Resource Icons and/or use Strategic View to locate your resources. As for Barbs, finding their camps automatically is pretty much the whole point to the Honor opener.

I had this problem before, especially on large maps. Strategic view is somewhat helpful, but it still takes a lot of time to find e.g. aluminium around your borders. Arhceologic sites is the biggest problem, especially if you plan to steal some of them from CS.
