Civ 6: is anyone playing on PS4? Advice needed.

Can't you click on the question marks in the set up screen, and replace them with chosen leaders ?
Afk atm, will try later, but it should work, it is a primary function of civ after all

I tried many combinations, without success, in setup screen and in advanced configuration. I don't remember if I tried your suggestion.
If you check that it works I would be very grateful.

I'm beginning to think that on PS4 it is impossible to pick AI opponents. In that case it would really be a disgrace.

In the Create Game screen, you use L/R2 buttons to select the Players top screen, no ?
In this manner I just started a game between myself, Ambiorix and Trajan, on a small Europe map

Yes, select one of the leaderheads in the screenshot there, they then appear top screen, your chosen civ in a rectangle, opponents in circles,
At least I think that’s how it works, won’t know for sure untill I meet Trajan in game

OK not exactly a screenshot from my game, but it turns out I have the manual here on my desktop
In the screen above you see 4 question marks indicating random players, currently the first is highlighted (your own civ), but pressing R/L 2 lets you change the others too,
Simply click on the question marks, and change them to your preferred leaderheads.
You can also change the number of opponents in this manner, by deleting or adding question marks.
Then hit start game. Hope this helps.

Your "advanced settings" are easy to use, unfortunately mine is quite different as you can see in the screenshot posted below

Therefore any advice does not point exactly.

The manual is likely for the original, which I bought first for a few €, later I added several DLC, last was the Exp. Gathering Storm, which is the ruleset I currently use.
Other manuals in various laguages are here :
Could be you're right, but selecting your opponents manually is such a basic option in all CIV versions I know of, that it would be very surprising if it was ever not included.
Edit, In your screenshot there I think you need to first use R/L1 to open the "players" (giocatori?) tab, not sure.

As said i tried everything: now i'm quite persuaded that my advanced setup in game is different from yours (if yours is the same described in guide)
I reinstalled today Civ 6 vanilla, without DLC: same advanced configuration screen setup!
Therefore it's not an issue with DLC.
Anyway it's impossible for me to play against opponents chosen by myself.
I downloaded the manual long ago: useless for starting a game against AI
You are lucky to have a setup screen that allows you to play against AI of your choice.....
I reinstalled today Civ 6 vanilla, without DLC: same advanced configuration screen setup!
Therefore it's not an issue with DLC.

I believe you yes, tbh I only played a few games of Civ 6 on PS, since a few months when my old laptop blew its mind out, it’s not as if I know everything there is to know about the game,
maybe someone else will see this thread and will be able to help

Ideally we 'd have someone in Italy, playing the game on PS replying to this thread, I doubt many people here play Civ on PS though...
Maybe OP can just call a friend see if they can get it to work, the basic game now just costs 6€ iirc.

Your screenshot is the standard setup screen - to get to the one posted by Snowygerry you need to hit Red Square button & go into 'Advanced Setup'
