Civ Add-on/Expansion Pack Ideas

A "Wake All" Command for Units in a City...

Ex: I send all my units to a city on my border for an eventual war (a saved macro to automatically send all units to one city would be nice too)...Then, when I'm ready for war...I have to single-click on every unit to wake them up, it gets rather tiring (there isn't any way to do this so far, right?)

You can speed it up a little by right-clicking on the stack (even if in city), then keeping shift pressed and clicking every unit......

Aside from that - no way... :(

What I could really use would be a 'wake all sleeping units of this type' button. Fortified should remain as they are....

Speed the time up. On standard map around the 1970 it gets slow very very slow. And if your in a war omg u might as well mow the lawn bewteen the turns

You're absolutely right.
Try playing on a huge map. It totally sucks. I can't play more than just a few turns at a time before losing my patience.

I end up playing a different game.

Sorry if this has been posted before, but I just had a brainstorm while playing CivIII and I don't have time to read the whole thread:

What we really need is a way to pay for hurrying city improvements and maybe units by using gold per turn, gold that you are earning each turn but isn't actually in the bank yet. It would be sort of like a mortgage or loan, you could either pay cash up front or pay for it the new way, where you could pay a certain amount of gold per turn + interest over 20 turns or whatever. This way, if you didn't have the cash but needed something fast but were low on cash you could still get it but have to pay a penalty. The penalty would probably have to be significant, otherwise this ability might be too powerful.

Also, how 'bout letting Republics and Democracies go "in the red" and not have to sell off improvements for losing money, but instead owing that money back (plus interest, once again). I seem to recall that you could have a negative treasury balance in CivII. This should only be for the democratic governments, though, because in real life they can borrow money from the people (like war bonds, savings bonds, etc.)

If they don't want to make these features standard they could make it an option in the editor at least so that you could make these changes in your own game.

I do not know if this is mentioned or not (honestly, I didn't read everything in this thread) but there should be, just like in Alpha Centauri, the ability for one civilization to ask another civilization to stop fighting another one.

qslack I want you to check the ''suggestion for xp'' because I don't see this one and create one. Simply tell me if some of this ideas can be apply to your list.

Thanks

(really love the return of the cease of fire, check the thread please)

I always wanted this one but can be apply with a fonction of the UN for making some changes ( only a suggestion) Because the UN must have at least a ''diplomatic'' fonction between civs.

A longer ancient age.
So probably included new discoveries like : iron-made agricultural tools and so on.

Yes, didn't some version of CIV, maybe CIV1, have agriculture as one of the advances? Do scientists think that humans discovered the use of fire, or do they think it was a sub-human species?

How about special alliances based on government types? All the democracies and republics could join an alliance and all the communist nations could join another alliance, like NATO and the Warsaw Pact. Also, if you give gold for free to a civ, there should be a trade option so that the other ci takes it as a bribe or foreign aid. Maybe there should be free trade agreements as well. All civs in the agreement would share the same pool of resources.

And also, if some cities riot and others are happy, the rioting cities should secede and for their own country, similar to what happened in the American Civil War.

Optional new tech era (future!)
Civ specific units for each era
Make units obsolite against specific opponents (if a tank attacks a spear man, cavalry, etc, it always wins, takes no damage and can still attack again).
Less coruption
Less chance of global warming (maybe some extra improvements)
Subs don't reveal nationality to be default (can currently be changed in the editor)
You can switch globel warming off it the editor
Civ specific wonders that enable them to use there advantages (religious, expansionist, etc)

I want Eiffel Tower - similar to civ2 wonder

He who builds the UN wonder will enable diplomacy:
When UN is built (and you choose not to hold elections) every civ will be able to ask another civ to call of their vendetta against your "friend", like in smac

He who irrigates the land, will construct a FARM on the lands when the time is right (new tech - refridgeration - like civ2)

Tanks should just run over and squash units like pikemen and bowmen.

Also, civs should be able to get extra bonuses (military, expansion, science, religion, commerce and industrios) if they build the right combination of improvements and wonders, etc.

Thread too long to check if these have already been suggested - apologies.
a) at the least make City Defection predictable - e.g growing unrest in the city, attacks on the garrison, whatever. It is just unrealistic in the real world (and spoils the game) for a city to defect with no prior warning signs.
b) on Trade Advisor, show who might be interested in trading for your spare resources/luxuries. Political Advisor does not provide sufficient (accurate!) information. In Trade Advisor, you can see what other civs have to offer, but unless there's a feature I've missed, you can't see what they might like to buy. I have to go thru negotiations with everyone that I can trade with to see who might want my dyes or gems or whatever.

And please change the American civ from Native American to European, or even Greco-Roman, since most buildings in Washington are built that way!

I agree that farm lands have to increase the food production and railroads increase the production of shields.

Farms terrains have to RETURN because I hate see irrigations when I'm playing in 2002!!!:shottie: :whipped:

Optimise the code. I don't see why so many people say alpha centauri is better and yet it seems to require so much less.
Don't make the advisors look unhappy. Make them look troubled or something. If I were a despot and my advisor looked like that I'd execute him straight away.
