I start playing civ3 and, 5 minutes later, (more or less), the game crashes and exit to desktop. After this I can´t start any other game or nothing. A message "No memory", (or something like that) appears, altough I´ve got 384 MB.

Sometimes there´s no error, the game just kick me to windows...

I´ve got the latest drivers of all my hardware and the latest Directx.

¿Anybody has this problem or know how to solve it?

I want to play!!!!!!

I had the same problem here. Its a memory leak issue. I haven't installed the patch yet, just got back from a trip a little while ago, so try that it might help. I contacted Infogamers support and they said that the problem doesn't exist (but it does). To continue playing, press CTRL+ALT+DEL and, if you are in XP/NT there should be an End Process Command, which you will then be able to continue playing after you hit. Not sure if you can do the same in the 9x Windows systems.

For me, the cause of the problem was that when I was in/just after being in diplomatic mode or having a major event happen, the music/sound effects of the game would start looping and eating up all the memory. I actually upgraded 256mb from 128mb to try to fix the problem, but it didn't help at all. It just takes 2 mins longer to use up all the mem on the system instead of crashing almost right away.

The way to get around it (atleast for me) was to turn off sounds. You can ues WinAmp or something to play the music files from the game directory if you really want to listen to them, or put on whatever you can.

So, my suggestion is to get the patch. And if you already have it then turn off all sounds and contact Civ III support.

Hope that helps,
Peter
