First, I would like to say that the Civ Boardgame needs it's own sub-forum.

Second, I have created an Excel spreadsheet detailing the tech chart. It also shows what units, improvements, wonders, and other special effects occur when that particular tech is researched.

In addition, it shows if you get a free unit or improvement, and also shows the combat strength of the unit, or the happiness/productivity effect of improvements.

To top it all off, the tech tree has been de-tangled a little, and now you can read the Modern Era's techs a little easier. There were also a couple prerequisite techs that were unnecessary, and so I didn't mark them, so that's not an error.

Printed out at the default size, it takes up 4 sheets of paper, BUT it's not that hard to resize it to all fit on one sheet, as the one included with the game does.

This is not an official file, and any errors, though mine, can not be used against me in any way, once you have gained knowledge that it exists. Same goes for anything else.

The file is archived with WinACE, because it's a ton better than Zip, and so I don't even have Zip any more. If you don't have WinACE, go to the WinACE website and get it. WinACE handles lots of iles, including Zip and RAR.

I hope this helps some people. :egypt: :king:  :scan:

UPDATE: I have now attached v1.01 of this file. It includes 1 correction to the tech chart (forgot to put the note that Unlimited Trade Range becomes available with Flight) and adds an analysis of the city cards and markers to help you plan out your strategies.

UPDATE: v1.02. A user found a couple errors and suggested bolder arrows. In doing this, I noticed a couple more errors and fixed them. I also made it look just a little tiny bit better and added an "instructions" page and a couple thoughts on gameplay that might help you out. I expect this to be the final version, as I went over it quite carefully, but you never know. Game on!

Definitely, Thrasher. Anyone can post this anywhere, as far as I am concerned. I ask only that you attribute the work to "TheDS", and maybe that if people like it, they will post on this thread to keep it alive in case other updates are necessary.

I cannot get the damn game. (Borders doesn't carry it) :(

How is it? Is it worth the cash? How well are the elements of the comp. game transfered over? Can spearmen kill tanks in this one too? :D

My current gaming group doesn't like board games all that much (too much D&D and Palladium RPGs on the brain), but they're all I got in the area... But they all play Civ and they like this game.

It is simple enough that I anticipate my family wanting to play this when I see them next month, and if they do, I will get a second copy for them so that we have something to do when I go down there. My biggest concerns are that the first game takes a little while to play, and that my niece and nephew have very short attention spans, and may not want to finish the first game.

The game is suitable for 3 players; 2 can play ok, but there's not as much negotiating in it. Played part of a game with 4 players, but one had to leave (and then another, is why I played a 2pg), but it looks like 5 or 6 would be the most fun.

Spearmen CAN beat tanks in this game, but it's so unlikely, if I ever hear it happen in my lifetime, I will be shocked. Spearmen roll 1 die, tanks roll 4 dice. Tanks, being cavalry, get a paper-rock-scissors bonus against infantry of +4 in the Modern Era, and then in Adv game, defending a city gets +1, so it'll never happen there without houserules, but in Standard game, you instead get +1 for every two techs, so if the Spearman's player has 4 more techs than the Tank's player, the Spearman could roll a 6 to get 8 and the Tank could roll four 1's to also get 8 (including bonuses for both) and both units die.

And BTW, the Civ:BG forum is located here .

Well, it was bound to happen. Some one found some errors, so I had to fix and repost again. Found a few myself once I got started and did a couple more analyses of the chart for my expected game tomorrow.

To make it worth your while, I added another couple of pages of stuff you don't have to print, including a statement allowing you to repost and reuse the work as you see fit. Once in a while, that's important.

Well, to get a sub-forum, I would have to see a lot of requests for it, and then I would ask TF about it.

If a lot of you want one, I'll make the request. ;)
