Hi. I hope you can help; this is very frustrating. I just bought Civ III Complete for my machine running XP. My machine is fully updated.
When I run Civ III Complete using an administrator account, it works.
When I run it using a non-admin account, as soon as I click on "New game" I get the error
"Scenario Invalid!
Could not open scenario file. The file may be corrupt!"
I saw a thread on here about that error, and I did change all the files so that they are not read only anymore.
---
I even tried to be sneaky. I uninstalled the game, made my usual user account into an admin account, installed it that way (and the game worked), and then I removed the admin privileges for that account (and then the error resumed).
I don't want to keep using an admin account to play (it's not safe to do that). With my regular Civ III, everything worked just fine from my regular user account.
Does anyone have any ideas for a fix, or at least a work-around that would not require I switch to an admin account? I do realize I could make the game "run as" an admin, while I'm on my regular account, but then I am using the admin account. Since I'm interested in the online aspect of things, I don't want to run as admin.
Thank you very much!
David
