CIV III on Vista

Hello people,
I hope this tread is stil being read. Anyways i have some problems with my civilization 3 complete. It crashes every time i win a conquest (mesopotamia, rise of rome etc.) it also crashes 1/2 times when i win a regular game. I first worked with a crack and i thought that was the problem but now i have a new disc (totally original) and it still crashes. I play on windows vista and i run as admin and i have been searching for a solution for like forever. I am not that big of a genius on the computer so if anyone has an idea can he/she write it down in plain english?

The Conquest crashing issue may be caused by a read only problem. Find the CampaignRecord.hof file, right click on it, select properties, and make sure that read only is not checked.

As for the crashing during regular games, do you play the PTW version or just Conquests? I have a similar problem when playing PTW but never Conquests. Here's more info on my problem and my imperfect way to fix it:

Hey,

First let me thank you. I just finished my conquest game (which i had been trying to complete for like a month ). The problem was indeed read only for the CampaignRecord.hof file. The strange thing is that only the conquest Campaign... file has read only on.

I play my regular games using the complete version. But i am not sure if i will still incounter the same problems. However it's likely.
