Civ III play the world error

When I installed the newest patch for play the world, I bought the game today, and started up the game, it told me that the cd-rom is not in the drive, while it really is, what can I do?

BTW, I won't download any no-cd patches as that will be stealing.
And I dont steel

First let me commend you on not cracking

Well first lets Isolate the problem
Try another CD to see if your CD Rom Drive is malfunctioning
Try checking for scratches
If both turn up negative uninstall than reinstall than download the patch agian. Sometimes funny things occur when you install or add a patch and just doing it over agian usually takes care of the problem

Yes, I bought the real deal, and now the splash screen comes, and the game just does not load, this is very annoying

It's the original Game allright, just ain't the right Patch.
There a 3 version 1.14f patches out ther that i know of.
an US version, a German version, and an European English Version.
if you used the US Patch on a European version, He'll stop recognizing the CD. I dunno why, he just does. See that you get the real file from civ3.de or similar sites ( infogrames.de )

Don';t just reinstall the patch, uninstall everything down to Civ 3 than reinstall it all, you'd be suprised how often that works

Hey there,

had the same problem with civ 3 UK and patch US, just reinstalled the patch, the second time it works - dunno why, but it does.

so far am looking for a UK PTW patch but can find only the US, which causes unit graphics to disappear - any hints for the location of a UK 1.14f?

they're so kind to list all of the patches for US/EU versions out now, so everyone looking for a specific version get's even more than he came for ;o)

yep, it's the old bugger again ;o).

discovered a "cure" for the missing unit graphics (after PTW install) if you don't want to reinstall patches again and again:

just copy them from the civ3 game folder to the ptw unit graphics folder, and everything should be allright. it even works for the German add on, so if you have an english version of civ 3 just translate the folder names and copy the 4 or 5 missing subdirectory contents where they respectivley belong to.

since this action I'm doing fairly fine with US civ, UK ptw and US patch, so I think I won't go through the trouble of reinstalling the whole mess anyway.

this thing "Art\Unit\Knight\Knight Death.wav" popped up while i was in the middle of the game and it was too far already at from where i saved the game. the country that i am using was japan and i was like in the middle of war against India after i owned china and mongols and korea were doing their recovery after i made my attack on them. i spent a lot of hours on it and it was like "damn what was just happened?" it says "the game will be exit" O︵O!!! what's the deal man! f*ck!

any help?
