Civ III Vanilla not starting up

When I doubleclick on my Civ III shortcut, I get that wait symbol next to my mouse and then...nothing. Please help!

Has it worked previously and now stopped working, or is this a fresh installation?

Right click the shortcut, look at its Properties, and check that the path it points to exists and ends on the Civ3 executable.

Fresh installtion. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the path.

So a double click on the Civilization III.exe file itself fails as well? Then the install is screwed up. Either a file didn't get installed right, or one is corrupt, or your system doesn't live up to the expectations of the software. If you ae confident that your system is OK and meets the minimum spec then the next step is prolly an uninstall/reinstall of Civ 3.

I got it. Thanks for your help. The issue was that i had to install it as the administrator for it to install completely, but I was trying to play it while logged on to another user.
