Civ IV BTS: How to remove Intro & Logos

Hey, took me a while to find out how to get rid of the annoying splash screen and intro movies; if this information isn't on the site (I might have missed it) it might be worth sticking or adding to the FAQ since the thread I found it on was kinda buried and gives no instructions.

The file I used was originally from SimCutie (didn't edit his\her file so all credit to them).

How to make work?
Open up Skip-Civ4-Intro.zip, there should be 1 file called CvIntroMovieScreen.py, we are going to place this file into the Python\Screens folder of BTS, for me this is:

C:\Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4 Complete\Beyond the Sword\Assets\Python\Screens

make a copy of the original and replace it with the new file and you are done


This works with all versions of Civ IV as far as I can tell, just place it in the appropriate folder since each version (Vanilla, Warlord, Beyond the Sword) have their own Python folder.

I'm not sure what SimCutie used to make the file, I tried making a blank text document and just changing the name & file extension but that did not work, so I am guessing he\she knows whatever Python is and made a proper replacement. I re-uploaded the file on this thread but you can get it from SimCutie's original post (the link is at the top of this post).

Actually I just checked and SimCutie did give instructions (sorry, I read about 10 different threads), here they are.

So, I come up with this. As added benefit, it will remove intermediate picture shown for 2-3 secs between 2K games movie and Civ4 intro movie.

Just put CvIntroMovieScreen.py file in your My Documents/My Games/Sid Meier's Civilization 4/CustomAssets/python/screens folder.

Maybe place their post somewhere in the FAQ?

I reckon the advice at the bottom of the thread you linked to works, unless I miss something, like that also disabling in-game movies. Just fired up the game though, and the intro didn't work.

What is it?

Open up CivilizationIV.ini (in My Docs/BtS folder). Scroll down a little bit (it's quite close to the top though). Locate this line:

; Set to 1 for no intro movie
NoIntroMovie = 0

Set it to 1 and you're good to go. No intro movie

Thanks for the thread though, now I don't have to watch those pesky little ad thingies

Apparently that code also disables Wonder videos or something, I just put SimCutie's file in the actual C: game directory (not the My Documents one) and it removed both intros and the logo stuff.

Hate those 2k and Nvidia ads, dunno why but they make games feel tacky\cheap

Just hit Esc key and the screens get bypassed.

Not the one that specifically mentions the intro movies. There's another option to disable all movies. I have the intro option set to 1 and I still see the wonder movies.
