I am currently having an issue trying to install Civ IV the Complete version on my XP comp.
The issue is this:
I previously had Civ IV and the Warlords expansion pack installed, and needed to uninstall in order to install this whole suite which includes those two games. Unfortunately I could not find an uninstall button in the games, nor were they listed on the add/remove programs list (more about that later). So I reinstalled Civ IV and then it showed up on add/remove and I removed it. I could not find the disk for Warlords, the expansion pack, but it seems to be gone too.
Now the problem, whenever I put the new Civ IV DVD in my drive it spins for a second, then the light blinks and I get the following error:
"Sunkist.NOTIFYICONDATA.hWnd: shwicon2k.exe Unknown Disk Format"
"The disk in drive F: is not formatted properly. Please check the disk, and reformat if necessary."
Cancel Try Again Continue
Now the disk works fine in other computers and other dvds work fine in my computer, so I assume it is a software issue.
One other wrinkle is this: About 6-12 months ago I had a hard drive issue and the drive letters got remapped which tended to mess up the way some games ran. I doubt I have played this game since then, and I am pretty sure drive F: was not a DVD drive at the time. Also note: the original CD (from my original install) works fine in this drive.
Any ideas? I am at a total loss.
