Civ IV Complete

I have just installed civ IV (complete) on my windows 7 laptop

I have downloaded the patches but when I go to install them is says no version of civ IV has been installed, It has as I can play it. Does this version need the patches ?

also no short cuts were installed so I did this myself, but if want to play the expansion packs I found that I have to click on the individual short cut for warlord or beyond the sword is this the norm?

I did that before hand but made a wee mistake I installed to d:\games not d:\games\civ4

any advice on what I should do to fix it uninstall then reinstall ?

Do you have anything else in the Games folder ? However as you have complete, I am not sure.

nothing else other than a folder with all the patches

I would uninstall and reinstall, then. Just remember to use the "run as Administrator" option.

Tried that and when I try and install the patch it states that no version of CIV 4 has been installed.

Very confused.

Very strange. Maybe try installing on C:\games\civ4

What patches are you trying to install? Complete is fully patched apart from possibly the last patch for BTS, some versions of complete need no patching at all.

Thats why I like steam, all patchs automatically installed, if something is wrong with the game, its 99,9% your fault.
