Civ iv world builder crash

I hope this is the correct forum for this issue. When in world builder, the game crashes when changing ocean plots to land. I realize it is a power struggle for my computer in some way, not sure whether it is the processor or the graphics driver. The thing I want to know is if there is a certain type of landscape that is easier on my computer than others. I really want to finish my map. One I get the ocean turned to land, I can edit it into whichever type later on.
Is there a way to keep civ iv from crashing during this process of ocean to land transformation? Something about the switch from an ocean tile to a land tile is draining the computer more than anything else in the entire game, forcing it to crash. I just want to know if there is a way around this. Why would the process of ocean to land tiles cause such a drain, and what is the actual source?
Once I know what the cause is, perhaps I can fix the problem and finish my map for once.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I can't turn another ocean tile into land without it crashing. It is real frusterating considering all of the work I spent on this map. I wish there was a way around this. Why is it crashing just from turning an ocean plot into a land one?

i'd suggest your save your map just before the crash, so that other people can try to reproduce the problem. That is, if this is possible, never used worldbuilder for much of anything myself.

It is actually a saved game within a mod. I am making the map into a replica of the real world map. So far it is coming out great. I started out changing all plots to ocean, then started building from there. Now after a certain point, every ocean plot I change to land can lead to a momentary pause (as if the computer or graphics are being strained), then it crashes. What is it about changing a single ocean plot into land?

If I try to use the 4x4 tile changer, there is no way. Doing it one at a time may work. Maybe I will get four of them, then the fifth ocean plot to land, and it crashes. Doing it at this pace I would never finish my map.

Well I found out it isn't a graphics related issue. It wont let me edit another ocean tile. So I guess I won't be able to finish this map. No idea what causes it.

I am positive this isn't mod specific. The same problem occurs with other mods. So nobody out there can tell me why it causes so much strain on a computer to turn an ocean plot into a land one?
Eeven the first tiles you change from ocean to land cause the computer to make more effort than just switching land types. What is the computer struggling with exactly?
