Everybody, please help! I want to know if there is any other civ like game out there on the market? Sad but true, civ3 didn't have the stuff that 1 and 2 had when they came out.

Is there a grown up game that focuses on developing, administrating and expanding empires, WITHOUT having to fight goblins and trolls?

I would like to have something to compare ci3 with.

thanx sabotage. I also found some cool stuff in a nother link, I'm syre you know wich one I mean

The Civilization related games are:

Civilization I

Civilization II

Civilization II: Test Of Time

Colonization

Civilization: Call to Power

Call To Power II

Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri

Sid Meier's Alien Crossfire (Alpha Centauri expansion)

Civilization III

If I were you I would avoid Call to Power, it is one of the crappiest games I have ever played. Europa Universalis (as Zouave mentioned) is a good game though.

But first you should maybe give Civ 3 another chance. :)

Perhaps, but it is a Civilization related game, what the first question was asking for, so I mentioned it and all the others. If they are good or bad is another thing, I have not even played Alien Crossfire to opine about it, but the Civilization games are the ones described. This is, for me, my order of preference.

Alpha Centauri

Call to Power II

Civilization III

Civilization II

Civilization: Call to Power

Civilization I

Civilization II: Test Of Time

Colonization

Actually, Alpha Centauri and the Alien Crossfire expansion were AWESOME!!:goodjob: The features available were extensive.

However, it was really kind of unrealistic (mind worms
 )

Ugly red fungus, too:confused:

Well, I bought Europa Universalis II today.

Now the dilemma: what game do I remove from my hard drive to make room for it? Civ 3?? Resident Evil 2? One of those Star Trek deals?

Hmmmm.

Problems, problems. . .

P.S. Ideally an HD should have 25% free. Or so they say. Ha! Yea, right.

Don't remove Civ III! In fact, return EUII to the store if you don't want Civ III to become....[scary music]....SECONDARY!!!!!

J/k. Do whatever you want. ;)

If you don't have enough space, delete the game you are not playing at the moment, and when you want to play it again uninstall Europa Universalis for a while and place Civ III again. If you make sure you can keep the player names, scores, saved games, etc; there is no problem in uninstalling a game and re-installing it later.

I really like Call to Power II. Having stacks attack at once was cool and watching them all go at it at once.

Colonization also wasn't bad. I like the theme and the Indian interactions and stuff. It just had the same problem that all of the Civ-type games have (just worse), a tendency towards micromanagement as the game progresses.

Well, there's the Master of Orion series and the Settlers series.
Both are almost, but not completely, unlike the Civ series.

Zouave, tell me what you think about EU2. I just got paid, so I'll be getting it next week. After the last civ games, me and my girlfriend decided to ritually burn the civ cd. That's, by the way, a good solution for your HD problems..

Burn a CD that you no longer play? Are you so sure you won't play it again after some time? Wouldn't it be better to give it as a gift to a friend you may have?

I just downloaded the newly released gigantic 15+ mb EU patch.

We shall see.

There's also an interesting potential debate here: does tile movement, instead of area movement, improve play by giving you more control - or does it merely give the false impression of more control with more tedium? Don't know; haven't played EU - yet.

Is there a demo of this game?

Call to Power wasn't that good, but I've found Call to Power 2 to be a much better game than civ3. Buy it, it is worth it, especially now that it is so cheap.

I  EU2

If Civ3 had a true scenario editor, these two games would probably be tied, but right now it's EU2 all the way.

It's a bit complicated at first, but it's easy once you get the hang of it. If you need any help, feel free to PM me or ask on the forums over there...lots of helpful people:)
