CIV Multiplayer Partner Getting Dropped

My son and I have been able to play internet MP games against each other for years. I recently got a new PC and now every time we start a game we load up just like before and as soon as turn 1 begins, he gets dropped. He can try to rejoin but gets dropped without being able to do anything. I have checked my firewall setting and have an exception all set for steam and civ. Any ideas?
