So I'm the first Swede to reply? Huh, fancy that. Normally we're everywhere on the web despite there only being 9 million of us. From the geographical middle of Sweden, so closest would be viking I guess. Of course as anyone who knows their history well would say that Sweden has nothing to do with vikings since it was founded 200 years after the viking era ended. But it's kinda cool to call yourself viking.

The idea of a nation-state is fairly recent in human history. I believe France was actually the first to introduce it. But nation and nation-states are two different things. As a Swede you belong to a nation that was developed out of Viking ancestry. Your Viking ancestry is also shared by Norwegians, Danes, and Icelanders. Those nation-states including yours all shares a common ancestry and nation, therefore the development of nation-state separation is arbitrary.

Also American, and it's been since my great grandparents that my family line has been elsewhere. Technically, I have Irish and Ukraine (and Lithuanian) in me. Good luck finding any of those civs in the game...though Ukraine would be closest to Russia in the game..Although since it's technically not Russia you can make a case for most civs based on Eastern Europe... (and Ireland would be England I guess).

funny, my webster dictionary lists it as 'se-zar' not 'ki-sar'. guess it all depends on where you are from.

Well I was refering to how the Romans pronounced it way back then. Somehow the pronounciation got distorted to what it is in English now. Happened with many words when they got "Anglicized(sp)". Ottoman is a distorted pronounciation of Osman.

In ancient times the Celts populated Iberia, France (then known as Gaul), Northern Italy, parts of Germany, areas north of Greece, the British Islands, and even some parts of Turkey. This was until they were conquered and assimilated by their invaders, the Roman Empire, and then later the Germanic tribes. Today the nations associated with the Celts are, Ireland, Scotland, Normandy, Wales and the Isles of Man.

As for England, that is more commonly associated with Anglo-Saxons, who are Germanic. But I am sure they must have absorbed the indigenous Celts and Romans settlers of Britannia into their bloodlines.

What is the connection between Romans and Romanians anyway? I know that Romanians speak a Romance language, but I'm not really sure of the reason behind it...

the Romans settled Romania like a "colony" IIRC, that's why it has a romance language. (unlike where as in Spain, France etc. Latin was just influenced (and a little bit of mixing))

Well I'm Irish so I suppose the celts. I am actualy the same as a celt in apperence(spelling?). But I'm a celt by birth, Irish by the grace of God.

I was born in a town, that was founded by CELTS.
In the park next to my office archeologists now are excavating ROMAN ruins.
My native language is GERMAN.
My passport says "AUSTRIA".

I guess, i belong to the HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE.

As I mentioned elsewhere, Welsh, Cornish and Breton are almost identical
languages. Whereas Irish and Scottish Gaelic are similiarly alike.

Romans occupied Dacia during Trajan'reign and turned it into a "Roman Colony" => ( after sometime and with a lot of influence of course ) Romanian people.
