So I mentioned this in another thread, and thought I'd expand upon it. Golden ages were something in previous games, but their previous implementations have basically folded into per-city bonuses from amenities.
I think it would be cool if they brought back golden ages in a manner befitting the increasingly bespoke way they are doing things, and had civ-specific golden ages bonuses that had specific 'triggers' (i.e. ala eurekas).
Some examples off the top of my head, say each lasts 20 turns on standard and but only be triggered once per game:
England's could be triggered by their first naval victory by a ship buffed by a great admiral. They could get double great admiral points and +2 ship movement.
Brazil could get double output from jungle tiles after the first time he purchases a great person with gold or faith.
Nubia could be triggered the first time they build all the specialty districts in one city, and they get +100% district production.
Egypt gets double output from all trade routes after building two sphinx next to a completed wonder.
ETC.
What do people think? Additional ideas of civ bonuses? I think it would be an interesting way to add some more flavor the game, and some extra strategy of trying to time it so you maximize your specific bonus. Otoh, from a practical stand point, it would a pita to actual design and balance.
