Hi all,
the worst enemy I have had recently (in many games, I've had enough of their blue...), were the mayans; traits combo is really great, and the AI manages to use it somehow (surprise surprise)...

Sumerians, Celts, and Netherlands AI are probably one of the biggest threat I couldn't possibly handle them on early/middle part of the game because:

Sumeria - has early cheap tough defensive UU, grows empire and culture very rapidly.

Celts - same thing as sumeria, except their Gallic Swordsman could pawn any early/middle military units.

Netherlands - Their Swiss Mercenary is extremely tough especially when they're garrisoned in Cities/Metropolis and it can build twice as fast as Musketman/Samurai.

I think Greece when they get really developed and were allowed to expand unchallenged by me. Typically when I'm on a different continent. Appeasement wise, I believe that the Egyptians are the best a placating me.

I find the Iroquois do well inititally but they tend to hit an invisible wall sometime during the middle of the game. I think they are too peaceful so their lands never expand so they end up missing a crucial resource that always stops their progress.
