Morning all

I'm having a few issues with my game and wondered if anyone can help?

I'm running the Gold Edition G&K Civ V on a Dell PC. I recently upgraded to Windows 7 (64 bit), 8GB RAM and AMD Radeon HD 7750 graphics card.

I played for a few hours after upgrading in DX11 but a solo game. No issues playing and looked lovely.

Joined a friend the next day for our online multiplayer and the game crashed on the first turn (froze with music still playing then went to black screen). I didn't get any text or information as to the issue.

I restarted a few times and had the same issue. I tried hosting (instead of joining), tried lowering graphics settings and rebooted...still the same problem!

Eventually opened in DX9 and everything ran fine! Hmph!

Read through the threads here and have checked Civ Integrity (2 files needed sorting) but wondered if someone could take a look at my DxDiag (attached) and let me know if anything stands out.

Thanks

Traz

edit: Just had a thought...I started my multiplayer game on Dx9 last week and tried to play on Dx11 this week....would that have been what caused the issue? Will try a new multiplayer starting on Dx11 tonight and see if that works.

Just an update on this...I played a new multiplayer on Dx11 last night. 3 hours play with no issues. High graphics settings and big map!

Am thinking maybe it was Civ Integrity? Sorted for now!

Your dxdiag looked okay, other than your CPU is probably bottlenecking (should still run the game). MP is just really, really buggy in this game, you never know if it's going to work or not. I've quit even trying to troubleshoot it.

Hi Ragan, thanks for the feedback. The CPU is the next thing on my list for upgrade (followed by hard drive, screen and eventually motherboard).

Solved. or at least i think. i have been looking for this solution for quite awhile. and i found it nowhere. it is my guess that most people who have this problem have the game on steam. what must be done to fix this is as easy as changing your steam name to something short and easy. for example, my steam name at the time was "{➊➌➌➐} ☣Ⓙⓞⓢⓗ☣ ⇔ mayonaze". i changed my steam name to just "Josh" and civ 5 multiplayer worked fine. i changed it back, and WALAH. broken again. so my advice it to change your steam name to something the game wont be confused about, and i find it tends to work. hope this helps. :)
