I've been having trouble beating noble difficulty, so i decided to post a game. In this game I'm Elizabeth.
The game conditions are:
-Noble Difficulty
-Continents
-Standard World Size
-Temperate Climate
-Low sea level
-Normal speed
-random civs

That's a good starting position for Liz-cottage everything, and if there are inadequate hills to get infrastructure in (though I doubt that), just chop everything out.

Make your priorities pottery and BW to take advantage of your start.

Seems to be no hills? If there are no hills, hit the 'regenerate map' quick smart!

Hills are very important, because you will need your capital to be a production powerhouse. Also, you will need to stop the growth of your city 'stagnant' when the city reaches level 6, before you have any happiness modifiers available in the early game.

If you want to succeed in 'noble' level, use raging Barbarians setting. Raging Barbarians will force you to respond in such a way that is in the right direction for dealing with the other AI races later on in the game (They probably will not even declare war on you).

Hills aren't critical - useful yes, but theres enough Trees there to get a quick settler to found a hill based city. And with the gold availability - research shall be top draw. On Noble the barbarians aren't aggressive, and slow to appear so shouldn't be too bad, just get scouting and find yourself your next city location. Good Luck

thats a decent capital
Flooplains are yummy

FIN will gives extra 3C from river cottages

and those forest are pretty much the hammers you need
and of course....whip!
