I'm pondering on buying a mac, and I saw somewhere that there is some sort of windows emulator (or something) thingy available for mac. Is there one that is good enough that I could play Civ 3, windows versions in it?

There is VirtualPC, but it will not run the PC version of Civ3 well at all on a mac. Many mac users use it to open executables for various PC mods to install them on the mac version.
I'm playing an SG right now with a team that is all Windows as far as I know. As long as they play CivIII 1.29 for Windows there's no problem with file interchange.
Also, we can play Games of the Month on an equal footing with the PtW crowd, as these games are designed to run in both versions, with added units and civs on the 1.29 side to match those in PtW.
Of course, if you really want to play Conquests then forget it on the Mac.
There's a vacancy on the game I'm playing right now.
Revenge of the Babylon Settlers, team A. There are three teams playing aganst each other from an old GOTM start file that killed a lot of the original players.
PM mad-bax, the co-ordinator, if you want to play.
