just installing civ2 again to have a bit of a play before getting civ3. I am now running win2k and when i start up the game i am getting an Application Error - Civ2 caused a Stack Fault in module IR41.DLL at 0002:019D Choose close. Civ2 will close.

anyone know why this would be, im thinking civ2 doesnt like win2k??

Nope....I run it on Win2k and WinXP (Which I installed yesterday. )

But I don't have any videos turned on, and I believe that was a big problem with 2k. If you have SP2, you can try the compatibility mode thing, but I doubt that would work. (Never has for me)

The other option is to try this article: http://forums.civfanatics.com/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=10&t=000120
That should fix the error your getting!!!

thanks a lot - yup that fixed the problem
just wanted to get back into having a few games before civ3 is released

Here's what I've gathered from other posts. The IR41.dll is from an older version of the Indeo Video drivers (including the ones of the CDs) which Win2k does not support. You can uninstall these and then go to www.ligos.com (Intel doesn't make Indeo anymore, but Ligos does) to get the latest drivers.

Fry,

What exactly did you do. I am having the exact same problem. I downloaded the Indeo drivers and installed them, but that didn't work. Should I have deleted the old ones first? How do I do that.
Please help.

Thanks
