should work fine. I had win2k pro and Civ3 hasn't crashed on me at all. Upgraded to XP and all kind of funny stuff started to happen when I'm playing Civ3 until it corrupted the FAT. Reformatted my hdd and reinstalled win2k and never had another problem since.
That's not quite true, I'm running it at 85Hz on Win2k Pro with no problem whatso ever, the trick is to enter it into the .ini file as refresh=85 IIRC. I'm not at home right now so I'll check it when I get home.
BTW I can't remember who ever said Win2k isn't any good for playing games, all I know is that whoever said that is full crap.
I'd leave the refresh rate at default though. But if you must fiddle with it, make sure you know how to boot into safe mode first coz if you set it outside of the monitor's range of refresh rate, you'll be in big doo doo
