civ3 complete & civ3 gold

i looked around and i havent been able to find the answer to this...but are civ3 complete and civ3 gold compatible for multiplayer game somehow?....it doesnt seem to be working after the installl but is there a patch maybe for it?...why wouldnt they work together for a LAN game?....any response would be greatly appreciated....

iirc the gold version includes Play the World and the complete version includes both Play the World and Conquests. So yes the are 'compatible' for a LAN game, but you have to play the same expansion pack (PTW) and you probably have to have the same version (patch).

interesting...i will have to make sure we are playing the PTW game then....i tried installing a patch on both pc's the other day and it screwed up the pc with the gold edition...it wouldnt run...and it wouldnt uninstall for some reason...i had to delete the game from the registry and all the files and folders so that i can reinstall it....so im hesitant to do that again unless theres a specific patch for both games?....thanks for your input...if you can help me out with this i would greatly appreciate it

Here you should find the appropiate CivIII v1.29f patch and install it on both comps, and then install PTW 1.27f on both. After that you shold be able to play a PTW LAN game.

hhmm did that and still doesnt work....any other options?...keeps telling us that the versions are incompatible....

In the main menu screen there's a version number at the bottom left of the screen. Make sure it is the same.

Also, make sure you're playing the same expansion pack.

This is all there is to it. If it doesnt work i'm pretty sure its either one of the two reasons above or an outside issue like firewalls etc.
