Civ3: complete from steam no longer starts

I bought Civ3: Complete from steam a while back and it ran wonderfully. Recently the screen on my laptop broke and I now have it hooked up to my TV. After doing this Civ3 will no longer start up, and no error messages. My HDTV has a different resolution than the old screen on my laptop did so I'm thinking that must be the problem, but I have no idea how to fix it. Thanks in advance for any help!

You'll need to make sure that the res on your external monitor is at least 1024x768, and the refresh rate at least 60hz.
