I have no idea if there is anyone out there that can do anything about these, but it's my wish list. These are the 3 features I dream of having on the Mac version:

1. Victory Screen (like in Conquests)

2. A screen that shows how much gold each Civ has, and which tech they're researching so that you know if they already got a certain tech or not WITHOUT having to open a dialogue with every single Civ. It's been many years, but didn't Civ1 and Civ2 have that basic information on the window that pops up when you select which Civ to dialogue with?

3. automated worker options like in Conquests (mainly "automate without changing any existing infrastructure")

I converted to Mac a few months ago. I have bought a vanilla Civ for PC, PTW, Conquests, and now Mac. And I love Civ3 so much, I would even shell out more money to have the above mentioned features.

Oh, and if anyone knows any work-arounds to simulate any of my desired features, I'd love to hear about it.

Thanks!

1 and 2. Are impemented with much more in a couple of PC utilities - CivAssist by ainwood and CrpSuite by Dianthus. They aren't on the Mac, I'm afraid, though I've been thinking about how to make it so. The main bugbear, for me, is that the Mac version of Civ3 takes over the whole screen, so a utility program can't display any status information over the top. I sometimes run CivAssist on an old networked PC, monitoring the saves on my Mac, and so I can see the status info on the PC's screen. If you still have a PC I recommend you have a look at this option, but it's no use if you don't have a PC [EDIT] or Virtual PC. You could also use remote desktop to view the PC screen if you wanted to have it all on the Mac screen. [/EDIT]

A Mac version would prolly have to sound an alert when something changes, and you'd then have to Command-P to check the screen - still a bit easier than ploughing through the F4 screen, I guess, but not very elegant. I have a lot of the framework for such a utility, but I don't have a lot of time to work on it :(

3. Exists. Shift-A tells workers to improve tiles without destroying existing irrigation or tiles.

Alan, thank you for your response. I'm new to Macs in general, and so I don't understand much about porting and all those sorts of things. I look forward to using Shift-A with my workers  I learned by reading forums here on Civfanatics about option-J for stacked movement (or command... I keep getting the key with the apple on it confused).

Civassist sounds great! Good luck in finding a trick to make it work someday. I bet I'm not the only one who would be incredibly grateful! It's funny to think about how many hours (years?) of my life I've spent playing some form of Civilization! I just don't like the real-time strategy games.

Two days ago, I gave my old PC (AMD 1ghz so no THAT old) to a friend because I'm moving to a tiny studio (San Francisco, housing is crampted) When I get Virtual PC 7, I'll probably post something to find out more about how to set up CivAssist running at the same time that I play Civ3. For that matter, I hope a Civ Mac player tries playing Conquests on their Mac using VPC 7 just to see if it works?
