I hope this works, new to polling:

There are a lot of good opinions floating around, I thought maybe a tally of what is wanted may communicate the community's wishes more effectively (faster).

If you vote, please post a message. It may simply state, "Voted."

Also, keep in mind that the last "official" statements about MP was that Mac and PC players may not be compatible over the net. This discussion is found in the forum.

Now, I'm voting for patch parity first, then editor for what I think are sound reasons.

(1) Talking apples to apples in forums, not apples to oranges.
(2) Ability to play numerous PC scenerios, mods, etc. while waiting for mac editor.
(3) There would be a better chance to gain MP capabilites w/ PC players.
(4) I believe this can be accomplished within the constraints of MacSoft's resources.

Many of us feel the editor is essential to the game. Personally, for me it would be a lot of fun (but I would keep playing the game w/ out it). What I think we need to know from those who feel it is essential is .... does this mean now or later?

This is a great forum. Everyone seems to be rational and on target which is something I personally appreciate, although I'm guilty of deviating on occassion. Look forward to your responses.

Voted option 3. i would prefer to get the patch and the editor at the same time. The editor is extremely important and i would not want it to get lost through postponement. If this means waiting for it, so be it.

Patch parity first. Then I can

A) Play succession games with PC people
B) Play mods/scenarios/etc made by the (much larger) PC community.

Of course I would like to have my cake and eat it, too, but....that may not come to pass at all, or may come a LOT later. I was just about to the point I could play succession games with PC pals, then their patchlevel changed, and now I don't know if I'll EVER get to play with them.

Anybody else notice just how few responses these polls get? Makes you wonder just how many of us there really are. :(

Voted - I want the editor so I can make a few maps I've been wanting to do for months.

Man oh Man. Why would anyone want parity with PC users before we get the Editor. Wouldn't getting the editor bring us closer to parity with PC users, since they already have an editor?

IMHO

Yes, we would have the editor, but we are now unable to use any maps that PC users make, as they are made with version 1.29f and we can only use 1.21f maps.

Not just the use of maps as ferretloverdc replied, but also the availability of scenerios. I don't believe anyone here is considering not having an editor, just the timing of the editor's release. If, as gfeier suggested from listening to Nate's comments last night, MacSoft really is interested (but undecided) in porting the code for 1.29f, I don't believe they would trash months of work on the mac editor. I believe if we communicate successfully to MacSoft that it really is worth the frustration and strain on their resources to provide patch parity and, later, an editor, then a real threshold for cooperation would be reached for the mac-gaming community and mac-gaming publishers. Obviously, we all would want to make a commercial for Apple's switch campaign!;)

I would be afraid that if we got the patch, the editor would never come. Although I would enjoy playing scenarios created by PC users, I would much prefer to create my own. I don't even want to play the game anymore until i can get the editor. I am tired of not being able to place starting locations, and miss all the things that seem to be lacking in this version of the game from Civ II, which the patch fixes. To me, parity with the PC is more than simply the patch. To me, the editor is as much a part of the game as, well, these stupid patches. If I have to wait on the patch to get the editor, I will if this means I get the editor. Without the editor (1.29) this game will not leave my shelf again anyway.

Option 1...because, frankly, it's the best shot we have of getting anything before PTW.

This was a very dumb thing I said. I want to change my vote! Option 2, Option 2, Option 2!!! There are plenty of 1.21 PC mods that we could use. We can make our own Mac games of the month. My guess is that 1.21 + editor is probably FAR easier for MacSoft/Brad/et al to finish up and release than even 1.29 without the editor. That translates into getting it sooner than we would get 1.29.

Let's just hope Firaxis doesn't continue making wholesale changes to PTW once it's released.

I vote other.
I really dislike voting on what parts of a whole game should not be released. First we should be happy that the editor would be available as a later release, then we should be happy that it would be MacOS X only, then we should be happy some of us get an editor at all (before we have even seen it). Like Calrissian says in "The empire strikes back":
This deal gets worse all the time.
In a perfect world MacSoft should release 1.21+editor for all systems that fit the original system requirements. And any revision costs beyond 1.21 (including german 1.29) should be carried by Firaxis as costs unduly imposed post contract (or whatever).

True, and I was right w/ you two weeks ago. However, I opened the wallet and upgraded to OS X.
