Let's go for an achipelago map with lots of islands and maybe AI on some of them. Monarch lvl I'd propose...
On an archipelago map I propose no teaming up...

Lots of islands huh, well that kind of narrows my options on tribe choices. I'll pick one before the day is over.

Ok, a couple final questions before I decide:
1. Is this going to be an Always War game?
2. It's every man for himself (no teaming) right?
3. Lots of islands with limited big islands
4. What's the barbarian setting?
5. Any huts?
6. Limited or plentiful resources?
Sorry for so many questions, but an island game doesn't fit my usual style of take AGR, grow quickly, research fast and play defense until it's time to either attack or launch.

1. I'd say yes...
2. Also yes, because I am not sure how teaming up should work on an island map!?
3. Yes, maybe the starting island shouldn't be too tiny.
4. Restless?
5. Few. I found the many huts in the last games too unbalabcing to be honest.
6. I'd say not all resources should be available on the main island...
