I am running CivIII-PTW on my new PC wich uses Vista Ultimate 32bit.

The game runs fine, but when i attempt to open the editor for PTW (Civ3XEdit) i get the following error messages:

"ERROR:Could not locate Civiliazaion III: Play The World. Please make sure the game has been installed properly and try agai."

If i chose the option to "ignore" the error warning and continue opening the editor i get this:

"ERROR: Could not open file Art\Terrain\x_airfield and detect.pcx. Check to make sure the editor is running from the folder where Civilization III was installed."

"ERROR: Could not open file Art\Terrain\x_victory.pcx. Check to make sure the editor is running from the folder where Civilization III was installed."

"ERROR: could not open fiel: Arts\Cities\DESTROY.pcx. Check to make sure the editor is running from the folder where Civilization III was installed."

After the above error messages the editor will load and everything appears to work normally, but after i select "custom rules" and open the menu to edit Civilizations or Units... the lists are blank... there are no units... and no civilizations to edit....

I have versions 1.29f on C3Vanilla and 1.27 on C3PTW.

I have tried adjusting the compatibiliy mode, i have changed the security restrictions on both files of CivIII, I have run as administrator... I have tried everything i can think of that might be interfering with the game but no luck.

If anyone knows what may be causing the error messages or the missing data from the editor, i would appreciate it.

Thank you.

Not sure, I'm still on XP. But from what I've read it sounds like it's an install path issue. You might want to look at some of the threads here regarding vista and the editor, because I'm pretty sure I've seen this before.

I'm not an expert on the directories for PTW, but it sounds like Vista installed certain files to the wrong directories. Get someone like Padma or Turner to tell you the right directories for PTW and manually install it again. That should do it.
