civ4 and expansion ok on vista?

i never could get civ3 to work on my vista home premium. should i expect any problems with civ 4? with civ3 i got a black screen with sound right at opening splash, it was black , but the sound worked, as did the editor. i could hitesc to pass the splash, that i didnt see, and i heard, but not saw the next screen.
i am in the middle of dl civ4, crosses fingers.

It works in principle, but there are some things to look out for, see the sticky thread by kiwitt.

If you are DL from one of the Digital-Distribution Services, it really depends if they put it correctly together..
