Civ4 BtS Hitler Leader Mod?

Okay, I'm going to keep this short and simple... there's multiple mods for Hitler in the default and Warlords versions of Civ4.

From what I understand, BtS is a differant ball of wax on modding. Are there any BtS-friendly Hitler mods, or at least a "how to" on the leader-head issue in BtS?

I don't care to discuss philisophical issues about Hitler, he's a madman, yadda-yadda-yadda, yes we already know this.

I'm just looking to see if there's a way to take any of the Warlords Hitler mods and get them into BtS... I'm sure there is, I'm just a little dense on how to do it with BtS.

I looked for BtS-friendly Hitler mods, didn't find any.

Any help, pointers, tips, etc would be helpful.

What's the leader issue for BtS? I've had no problems adding new civs/leaders (just added 15 to Road to War with no problems).

I dunno... what is needed to add leaders to BtS... is it differant from Warlords or the default game?

I haven't added leaders before, but did download some leader mods for the earlier versions.

Looking for advice/tips, etc on what to do with BtS.

Also, do you ADD a leader for a country, or modify an existing one? Pardon my lack of knowledge, but I'm new to leader modding/adding/etc.

Vanilla and warlords leaders won't work in BtS. There's new tags added to BtS.

So if you want to use a previous version leader you need to use a compare tool (like www.winmerge.com) to find the differences between the previous and existing tags. Once you add the new tags to the previous version's leader it'll work.

You can either link a new leader to an existing civ (by using AvailableLeaders in Civ4CivilizationInfos.xml) or you can add a new Civ to the file.

That's what I was getting at (and had rightly assumed).

Essentially I've got the vanilla and warlords leader mods but not sure how to get them into BtS... ergo this thread.

Maybe someone should rerelease one of the Hitler mods and name it "Hitler - BTS compatible," or something, with the permission of the original mod author. Of course it would have been a lot easier had Firaxis just added Hitler as an official leader, but that's another argument altogether

Partially off topic, but why wasn't Hitler even included in the BTS World War II mods? He was easily the most important figure in the whole conflict. Stalin committed mass genocide and he is still in the game.

(Actually, when you think about it, a lot of the leaders in the game killed huge numbers of people. Is that what it takes to be a Great Leader?)

Same with Chiang Kai-Shek, Firaxis got fussy and refused to release because of political correct issues, not to mention you cannot play a game with Hitler included in both Germany and Austria.

Bah, people should just leave history and game alone without getting fussy.

Without rehashing the whole issue, I frankly don't see why Fraxis has an issue with this. I have a Masters in History, studied Second World War military and diplomacy (also in the middle politically, not some raving wacko), and Hitler was no worse, on the grand scale, than Stalin or later Mao, not to mention many of the earlier murderous leaders represented in the game. Can player Nazis (well Germany and by extension Hitler) in other well-played games like Risk, why not in Civ? Feel its just poor political-correctness and being weak-kneed. Including does not glorify, including acknowledges simply they existed, it is a game after all.

From my own perspective, Mao and Stalin are murderous bastards, responsible for 50m+ deaths each, destroyed their own countries, and deserve to be roasted over firey pit for life... even in death. But they have slightly better PR than Hitler, for some reason... well I could say, but that would start another argument... lol... Doesn't mean Hitler shouldn't be included for non-historical reasons.

If I recall correctly, it's an issue of the game not being able to besold in Germany because of it.

Hitler's pic in used in Hearts of Iron 2. I don't even think it'd be illegal in Germany if Hitler's image was used only for the War mod, though I don't understand why anyone could think he was a great enough leader for the main game.

Thanks for the link Meatwad... after a little stupidity, I got it to work in BtS... one question... why does Hitler have TWO armbands?

Oh well... a Hitler mod is better then no Hitler mod. Maybe one day Sid will actually put all relevant characters from history in his Civ game so modders don't have to. Time magazine even had him "Man of the year" in 1938. You'd think they could include him in the game at some point. History is history, right?

Because Hitler was one of the greatest leaders of all time, let alone possessing a great military and political mind. I'm not saying I'm a Nazi or support Hitler or mass genocide. I'm just saying he's the man that United Germany under his own belief, and he almost took over Europe. He was brilliant. He was an evil POS but he was brilliant. This is a guy who wanted to create the New Roman Empire and almost succeeded. Give the devil his due.

Reason why he wasn't added was, from what I understand, Sid Meier is Jewish and he doesn't want Hitler added to the game. If that's the reason why he doesn't want hitler added to the game then fine it's his game. But He should realize that half the leaders in this game were on the same level as hitler or worst. but hey.

I'm about to download it.. now if only i could be JD or R.E.Lee It be perfect, I could take on Hitler, Stalin, and that tyrant Lincoln
