I recently installed Civ 4 complete on my Vista machine. Works perfectly fine, but I do notice that when I start it up it is still on BtS 3.17. I try updating from the options menu, but it doesn't work. Tried downloading and running the patch myself. As soon as I click Install, the patching program quits out as if it thought it were the [X] button, with nary a word of warning.

I have no issues with Vista on other machines, so it just seems to be my own computer. Was planning on having it replaced anyway, but that's for when I have money. For now however, it does not want to patch, but otherwise runs perfectly well in 3.17.

Now, I'm eventually gonna try dragging it over to my brother's computer and patching it there, but I wanted to know if there were any known issues with patching up Complete that I might have missed.

On an unrelated note, I play almost exclusively with the BAT mod now. I remember coming here once and finding a question on how to turn the flags back to their normal versions, but I can't for the life of me find it again. If someone would be so kind and to find me a link to that post and it's answer (if there was one in the first place), I'd be extremely grateful. I was also wondering if it was possible to combine the Next War Epic mod with BAT 1.2. I've played with BAT so much now that the absence of their expanded interface really bugs me in Vanilla games.

It makes me run it as Admin to begin with, so yeah, you could say I tried that. Like I said, I don't think it's Vista that's the problem. My computer has however, proven that it can be difficult with certain things simply because it feels like it, whereas other Vista computers do the same thing with no trouble at all.

The icon for the application has the little shield on it to start with, so it can't help but ask me for admin permission. The prompt come up as soon as I try to run it.

I finally managed to drag it over to my brother's computer, so now the game is all patched up. I dislike the idea of having to do this for each new patch, but it could just have been a fluke.
