Civ4 --->DEMO<---Compatibility Issue

Im trying to run a demo of civilization iv (Since I lost the first disc to the full and computer memory crash) but whenever I run it it says "This program has known compatibility Issues" I'm like "Okay,thats fine,I just wanna play" and click "Run Program" then it gets to "Check XML' then says it stopped working

Any help?

EDIT: I am installing the Beyond the Sword demo.If this doesn't work,I'll be back.

Back.Beyond the sword demo only gives you space mission,and that has no action in it.

I do not know if the early Civ 4 demo is compatable with Vista. If it is the one originally released it may not be as Civ 4 needs the later patching to run.

So the early one is not compatible,so I am just going to have to unistall it
No more Civ IV for the family.

1.Do you know where an early version of the demo is?

2.Do you know anywhere I can get a new disc one?

the civ4 demo is not compatible with Vista - the BtS one is but only is a demo for one of the mods the game ships with.

Alright then,I guess I'll go searching for the first disc,if I don't find it,I just wont-Uhg,I cant even say it anymore without thinking of it.Wish me luck.

One last question,even though its not compatible,shouldn't I still be able to run it with only a few problems occuring every now and them??

And can anyone help me with the "Stopped Working" part,forget about the compatible issue please.

To sum it all up,I AM ONLY FOCUSED ON THS STOPPED WORKING PROBLEM.

Please only post about this problem and ONLY THIS PROBLEM.Once I fix this I can play

its a pretty generic access violation error that can have a host of reasons - the above is a non exhaustive list of possible sources with some suggestions.

I have vista,and tht all leads to XP,but I have no clue what your talking about

most of these are still true for Vista - essentially the error message says that the program stops working because it tries to use a memory address that it is not allowed to. This is of only limited interest though since this can occur because
- the program is not compatible with the operating system
- the program is not running with administrator rights
- the program is not compatible with other programs running
- the program is not compatible with some drivers running (e.g. graphics)
- the computer has a corrupted memory chip
- the computer is infected with some kind of malware that actively prevents other programs from running

thats all I can think of - but there are bound to be more reasons - the bottom line though is: the demo is known to not be compatible with Vista - Civ4 only becomes completely compatible with the latest patch and the demo was released prior to the release version of the game - so there is not much you can do to make it run I fear

Hey guys,Im back,and I found my first disc! I downloaded the expansions too.But another problem occurs.


1.When I try to start Civilization IV,it says please insert the disc,even though its in their.

2.When I play "Beyond the Sword" everything worked fine untill I clicked "Start Game" then it crashes and says "Stopped Working"

3.When I start Warlords,it says "Stopped Working"

which vendor did you download the expansions from? are they patched?

1.Well,I orded a new set of them from "Gamestop"

2.Beyond the Sword is fixed,I can play now,but I still want to fix warlords and especially vanilla version.Thanks.

Yeah,I know Beyond the Sword is and so is Warlords,I just patched vanilla but it still breaks.

if you bought them from gamestop - you need to get the patches for the games from them.

I just now patched them....But now Civ4 does the same thing as warlords...and warlords does the same thing it always does.
