When I install civ4, the whole installation works, but I can't get it to start up.
When I double click the icon, nothing happens. So I decided to search the forums for a solution.

One of the solutions I found was enabling logging, I needed the Civ4Config file
( CivilizationIV.ini ) but I didn't find it under the install directory, instead I found the _Civ4Config.lnk which was linking to an unexisting place : "%HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH%\My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\CivilizationIV.ini"
Also different other lnk files which didn't link to anything ...

I'm having a dutch Windows XP pro with all patches and the latest videodrivers for my radeon 9700 Pro, all other games I have are working, except civ4 ...

The path where I should find is C:\Documents and Settings\Karl\Mijn documenten\

can anyone help me please ?

reason : did you ever use software to make a backup of a game running, like starforce nightmare, of securom loader ... I did, I removed it but I think that's the reason why it won't work ...
I did test the game on a different machine, there it worked fine.

solution : download a no-cd patch from www.gamecopyworld.com , replace the game exe with the one in that patch and it will work.

So I bought the game, and it won't work, when I should have downloaded it, it should work ... so next time maybe ... I hate those ****ing protections !
