I just bought Civ4: The Complete Edition today. the game works fine, looks beautiful, but one problem - (IT has NO SOUND). I tried everything like, Dxdtxt thing, updated but the patch say there's no game in my HDD. My CivIII runs fine with sound..... Help, PLZ!

Welcome to CFC :band:

which patch did you try?
what operating system is this?
which version of complete (US - i.e. with colonization - or EU - i.e. without colonization)?
-I think I got all the patches, they were on the "advance" section in each games: Civ4, Beyond The Sword exp, Warlords exp, and Colonization. there were two of then got patches, the other two no patches for it. (also there's 1.6 patch for Civ4 from Xfire, but it kept saying that game not found in my files, but it's detected all 4 Civs on my Xfire games list).
-I have Vista 32bits, P4 3.20ghz, 3gigs rams, 8600gt xxx.
-It's a US (i.e?) with Colonization....
-- I heard the Colonization causes problems that's why there's no sound. Is it true?

Thank you for replying, sir.

Is this good enough? I saved the dxdiag, but it didn't let me upload at photobuket so Im typing most:
Windows Vista Home Basic(6.0,Build 6001)
Enlish(Regional Setting: English)
945p
IL Pro
Default System BIOS
Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.20GHz (2CPUs), 3.3GHz
3070MB RAM
1111MB used, 5270MB available
DirectX 10
NVIDIA Geforce 8600GT
Intergrated RAMDAC
1520 MB
1024x768(32 bit)(75Hz)
Speakers (C-Media PCI Audio Device)
_Hope this helps. if you need more info I will try my best.... anyways, I tried to play Civ4 everyday since I bought over the weekend see if I get sound, but no(no sound at all during game play, only have sound when started the game like 3 seconds when the 2K introducing) the Civ4: Complete plays well on my PC, and looks beautiful, it's just no sound.
-Thanks again Ori.:)

Oh, and my PC plays Oblivion really well too no lags.... except when saving the game it can freeze sometimes.
Edit: also I just did tried downloading(like 20 times today and 20times over the weekend) the patches Civ4v161, Civ4Patch1.74, Civ4Warlords - none of them work.
They kept saying the samething:
"The Setup has detected that no version of SidMeier's Civ4 is installed. This update requires that a previous version of the application is installed"

Civ 4 and Warloads will already be patched in the version you have so none of the Civ 4 or Warlords patches you downloaded will work as you already have them. You just need, as Ori said, BTS 3.19 and Colonization.

To post your dxdiag results save it as a .txt file and upload it as an attachment here by using go advanced to type your post and manage attachments you load your file.

if you don't want to post the complete dxdiag results file, thats fine, but please post the part about sound and graphics drivers (and all of that) - but it would be much less hassle to read through if you could just save the file and attach it to a post as described above :)

Edit: just to be perfectly clear: start dxdiag, click on save results, come back here, click on go advanced then on manage attachments below the reply box and then attach the file :)

Still no sound.:(
-I already downloaded the Directx Rutine a while back and I just checked it just now and it says already installed. so no need to.
-And there's no Service Pack 2 on mine Vista update, I went to MS site downloaded the Service Pack 2, but after installed my Vista didn't detect the SP2..... I think maybe becuz I have the Home Basic. :(
-About my generic sound card, should I uninstall the driver and take out my PCI sound card? Bcuz my motherboard already has onboard 7.1 CH HD Audio CODEC built-in. ....or buy a new sound card?
Thanks again for your time, Ori.:)

I'll find everything you have said, when I got the time.... in the mean time tonight I'll busy be playing Fallout3 GoTYE PS3, just got it today. and Civilization: Revolution as well.
Thanks, dude.

It works!! HAHA!!.... THERE'S SOUND!! lol
What I had to do was I went to the Abit website and downloaded the Realtek updates, and now I had to switch to my Onboard Audio an order to make it work.... wow, the whole time I have been using the PCI sound card for nothing?!
And now I can play Civ4 with sound, looks and sound so good much better than Civ3. imo.... but anyways, Im actually learning how to play Civ eventho I had Civ3 months before I got Civ4, but I never actually playing until now.
--Thank you so much, Ori.... you have a great weekend!!

Edit: Oh, there were updates for my PCI sound card, but weren't working becuz Civ4 needs compatible sound like Realtek(WHQL logo'd) - I think that's why.... also, the Vista SP2 showed up now, according to my Xfire profile.:)
