civ4 running really slow???

hi all great site cant wait for the expansions

ive recently reinstalled civ4 for me pc and when im playing the game everything runs really fast normal at the begining but when the whole world map is shown i get amsingly slow performance i thought my computer would be able to run this game nps but obviously somethink is wrong hope some1 can help me with this annoying problem as it spoiling the game thx

heres my pc specs:

p4 2.4 ghz cpu
1.5 gig of ram
geforce 6600gt 128 mb gfx card

i personnaly thinjk it should run the game but even when i turn the settings right down on the game to low im still getting very choppy play
plus the nvidia driver version im using is 84.43

plz help thx


any help lease its spoiling the game this damn slowness any pointers on what to do to fix it please?

- try a different driver
- play smaller maps
- shut down any background apps
- experiment with various settings of your graphics card

I experienced similar Problems, but strangely only with the Warlords-Expansion. In Civ4 Vanilla this problem got solved by the last patches, but happens now again. Did anyone got the same impression, that with warlords Civ4 runs much slower again?
