I am pretty new to modding and just wanted some input. I would like to make an in game music player for Civ5 but I don't think that XML is the best way to go about doing this. Can anyone point me in the right direction. What would be the easiest way to integrate a simple mp3 player in game?

The Lua hooks that Firaxis provided us are too limited to make such a mod viable. I think this script plus this mod is probably the best you can hope for. You'd think the Steam overlay would have a music player... but no.
I personally use foobar2000's hotkeys to change the track if I come upon something I don't like, and just Alt+Tab out if I have to change the playlist.
EDIT: Steam added a music player last year, and I never noticed!
