Civ5 MP LAN windows 7 and XP

Hello

I want to connect my PC with my friends PC on Lan so we can play civ5 MP( I love hotseat but this is more fun xD )
My question is how do i do it i have never before connected two PC in LAN
Can i do it on regular router with wireless or cable
Clear this up for me

Yes you can use a regular router or if all you have is two computers you can use a crossover LAN cable.

Assuming you have both computers hooked up to the same router here are a couple links to help you setup a network.
