CivAssist II 30-Oct-2016

Hello Ainwood,

First off, thanks for a great utility!

Now, of course, the begging. ("You only write ven you VAHNT something, sonny!")

May I ask for a way to toggle off CA's monitoring for the latest sav file temporarily? I have a rather slow and weak computer, and going from turn to turn during the first 20 turns or so is really slowed down/made more frustrating when CA is running, because it does its little dance of notice a new save, restore (as in Windows windows' Restore button), immediately re-minimize, and somewhere along the way freeze the game at least once. It does this *whenever* it does its thing, but on later turns I don't mind, because the value of the information/overview it provides outweighs the inconvenience. But in the first twenty turns or so, the scales are tipped against its use. I can simply exit CivAssist whenever I start a new game and re-launch it when the game reaches a decently advanced state, of course, and that's indeed what I do, but having an option to merely "deactivate" it would be much more convenient.

Cheers,

Lo5
I am updating it to fix a similar issue at the moment - although it may take a couple of weeks. I'll add an option in to suspend auto-monitoring.

OK - I'd say that this is because you don't have the .Net framework installed. Try installing that (link is in the first post).

I do have it installed. I can see it in my "Remove/Add Programs" thingy.

Ok - sorry, I really don't know what might cause that (at least, without more details on the error message). You could try reinstalling the .Net framework, and perhaps then reinstall civassist. Other than that, I don't really have nay suggestions. :(

Alright. Thanks anyway. Can it possible on the language of the .NET?

I'm experiencing the same thing as bloh. I've just done a fresh Windows install (XP w SP2), .NET 1.1, and then CivAssist II. When trying to start CivAssist II I get (roughly, translation from Swedish by me):

The application has generated an exception that couldn't be handled.

Process-ID=0xd08 (3336), thread-ID=0x04 (3332)

Click OK if you want to exit the application.
Click Cancel if you want to debug the application.

I haven't had these problems before the Windows reinstall. I have no idea what's causing it. I'd be happy to supply any details you want, if there's anything you could do.

I am also running a swedish computer. This could possible be the probably, that we have swedish language or swedish version of .NET. :)

I've got a problem. I have CivAssistII for quite a lot of time! And it worked perfectly. Just that I tried to run it earlier this evening and I got a message: "The Application failed to initialize". I thought "no problem, I'll reinstall it". I run the installer, and click repair. The progress bar goes full and everything seems ok. Try to run it: again same message. Ok then, I'll uninstall it completely and reinstall it. Same result. Ok, then I'll just download again and install it. It tells me that I must have .NET framework. I ALREADY HAVE .NET FRAMEWORK! If I click "no", for "I don't want to download now", the setup just exits. If I click "Yes", it takes me to their website and the setup exits.

What's the problem? :crazyeye:

I've just reinstalled Civ3 and CivAssist and I am getting the same .NET error as Mirc. I have .NET framework 2.0 installed, and I reinstalled it just for kicks but still get the error telling me that I need version 1.1.4322

The two versions co-exist on the same system. Install the one it wants. You don't have to uninstall 2.0. You do need to install 1.4, or whatever version it is asking for.

Are you sure? I had 1.1 when the error first came up. Then I uninstalled it, and installed 2.0. I'll reinstall 1.1 without uninstalling 2.0 and see if it works.

I'm pretty sure that the version it needs is 1.4. See the discussion starting at post 675 on this thread (page 34).
