civIII map editor errors

well, obviously, i'm new to the forums. i've been playing CivIII since it came out, just recently got it for mac, etc. i've just downloaded the map editor, and I keep getting errors when i try to "brush" on the terrain.

e.g. "Assertion failed, file: Civ3EditView.cpp, line: 2510"

any idea how i might fix this? is my file corrupt, or is there something wrong with my machine? i'm not very advanced in the world of civ yet (i just downloaded the appropriate patch to get the editor to run, everything else is most likely beyond me), so, if there is a definite way to fix this, i'd appreciate if you guys explained it as you would to someone who has no idea what they're doing. because i tend to be a tad slow.

Where do you have the CivEdit application? It needs to be in the main Civ3 folder, not within its folder in the Civ3 folder.

Keep in mind that CivEdit works only w/ the 1.21g patch for mac Civ3, not the most recent which is 1.29b2.
