Hello everybody!

I am new on this forum :) but browsed it a bit.. and looked up on the internet for some mods capable of changing your civ1 civilization's colour, but couldn't find any so far..

Is anyone of you able to tell me where one can be found?
or even better.. is anyone able to make a mod for this?

in particular.. I noticed the civilization choice is limited.. and colours are fixed in civ1
I would like for example to pick a civilization like Romans, French, Germans and so on.. with red (barbarians) colour or eventually others, basically a wider palette.. not just the fixed ones

I think that would be a cool mod for civ1 what do you all think? :)

thanks for reading!

it sounds like a thing Darkpanda could figure out, but I don't want to speak for him.

Very stimulating challenge indeed :)

But it's not so easy to figure out... I believe those colors are coded somewhere in the various EXE files, since PIC or PAL files cannot contain such colors (something to do with PIC/PAL colors channels being codded on 6 bits, not matching the actual on-screen colors for civs...).

I've done a quick hex lookup but did not find anything useful so far.

Anyway, this is challenging enough, and I'll try something regarding it in the future :)

That does sound interesting. So other than changing your own color, how exactly can you make sure no one else uses your new color? Maybe like a randomizer that assigns the unused colors to the other civilizations? Just a few thoughts, not sure how though... :)
